Authors' Guidelines
If you've got an idea for an article relating
to motorcycles in general (and Yamaha Stars in particular),
StarCruiser E-zine would like to hear from you. Please
write a brief, informal summary of your article idea and send
it via e-mail to the editor.
StarCruiser does accept complete, unsolicited manuscripts
from ISRA members and other people interested in our membership.
However, before writing an article, you should visit the StarCruiser
search page to make sure that an article on your subject has
not already been published here.
The "Content" section of this guideline will help
you to determine whether your idea is in keeping with the
goals of StarCruiser. The sections marked "Style"
and "Manuscript Preparation" will help with the
actual preparation of your article. Please read the "Copyright"
section before sending your article to the E-zine.

StarCruiser
publishes articles of interest to members of the International
Star Riders Association, which includes riders, vendors,
and others involved with Yamaha Stars. It provides practical
examples and applications. The purpose of StarCruiser
is to inform, share information and ideas, and promote
the brotherhood of our organization by describing road
trips, inviting members to gatherings, and sharing personal
experiences with motorcycling. You should write your article
in a clear, informal style, avoiding jargon and acronyms.
Assume that the average reader of StarCruiser is
not a "wrench" but a layperson who enjoys motorcycle
riding. We urge you to send illustrations and photographs
with your submitted article.
Once we receive your submitted article, members of the
ISRA council will review it, and the editor of the E-zine
may edit it for grammar and mechanics. Once your article
has been accepted, you will get the chance to review it
before it is published. |
| Article Preparation |
| Length |
| StarCruiser publishes articles
of all lengths. However, it's best to write just as
much as necessary to cover your subject. The editor
reserves the right to edit an article--to condense or
expand material--as appropriate.
Some writers feel more comfortable writing toward a
target length. For StarCruiser, a good target
length is 1,000 to 2,000 words. |
| Formatting Text |
| Authors should put the title of the
article in boldface at the top of the first page. The
next line should contain the name of the author(s),
and their ISRA membership numbers (if they are members),
and email addresses (if email contact is desired). The
body of the text should begin on the next line.
Sub-heads within an article should be in boldface. It
is not necessary to use multiple fonts or columns when
formatting your article. Use a word processor, such
as Microsoft Word, a text editor, such as Notepad, or
an HTML editor to compose your article. We will accept
articles in the following formats: *.doc, *.rtf, *.txt,
and *.html. |
| Formatting Graphics |
| Graphics should be appropriate for
presentation on the Web. Therefore, they should be low-resolution
(typically 72 dots per inch). However, we are happy
to format graphics for you to make them fit our E-zine
template. We will accept graphics in the following formats:
*.jpg, *.gif, *.tif, *.png, *.eps, and *.bmp. |
| Article Submission |
| The easiest way to submit an article
to StarCruiser is via e-mail. If possible, zip
your article and any accompanying graphics into a *.zip
file and attach it to an e-mail addressed to starcruiser_editor@international-star-riders.com.
If this is not technically possible, please contact
the editor to discuss alternatives for submitting
your article. |
| Biography
|
| We encourage you to include
a brief (50-word) biography about you. Include this information
only if you wish it to appear in the E-zine. |
